Pre Application Form

 

The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Downtown Improvement Program, a loan program designed to encourage business and property owners to maintain and improve their buildings. The Program is one step in an ongoing process to visually improve the downtown area. The major objective of the program is to “enhance the visual quality of downtown Hanover via improvements to business fronts and public places.”

 

The Downtown Loan Program is partially funded by a loan from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. In addition, M & T Bank and Bank of Hanover have agreed to offer loans to assist qualified business or property owners with their building improvements, while the York County Planning Commission will serve as the implementation agency for the county.

 

The Downtown Loan Program is a competitive application process with equal consideration given to all applicants. Eligible participants must be in the central business district to be considered.

 

Interested parties should complete a pre-application and return it to the Chamber. A Review Committee will evaluate the application giving pre-approval to those projects that qualify. The applicant will then complete a final application, which contains more detailed information pertaining to the proposed project. Once the final application is approved, the work may begin.

 

Projects will not be considered if the work begins before the final application is approved.

The Downtown Improvement Program was first initiated by Downtown Hanover, Inc., the Borough of Hanover and the York County Planning Commission in 1995.
